Living and Healing Villages/medicine Wheel Campus

The District builds living villages for the benefit of the Indigenous community and their friends. The villages will archive, preserve, and promote the Indigenous story, language, traditions, spirituality, culture, education, health, social, and economic well-being of individuals and of the tribal community. The villages offer an all-encompassing strategy for creating living communities and promoting healing among the Indigenous community. Utilizing the medicine wheel philosophy to achieve balance. When a person or people are balanced, this state of being produces internal serenity, harmony, and a sense of interconnectedness with the Creator. Based on cultural values and traditions, the village will unite the community and family members to enable them to solve problems together, put those answers into practice, and act as a conduit between regional solutions and mainstream services that are suitable for Indigenous communities. Visitors who seek to stay at the village will be provided with this holistic approach to find their balance and learn trust and integrity: a path to achieving self-sufficiency and autonomy. The living / healing village staff will provide culturally responsive programs and education opportunities that benefit families and the community alike, including such activities as basket weaving, flint knapping, cooking, dancing, gardening, and learning Indigenous languages.
